Bondi Tsunami at The Australian National Film and Sound Archive

Original costumes, props, photographs, artefacts and hard drives (yes… a vintage 2002 Mac tower…rather than reels of film) from the Bondi Tsunami movie were recently obtained by the Australian National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra. The collection will offer future generations an insight into the new wave of 00’s Australian guerrilla filmmaking (enabled by digital cameras, editing software and domestic technology). The Bondi Tsunami movie collection also includes favourite op-shop pieces from Kimiko’s spectacular wardrobe and drag queen shoe collection, Gunja Man’s dreadlocks, Shark’s sunglasses, hat and jacket and Yuto’s famous `Strewth’,'You Little Ripper’ and ‘Sen-Bloody-Sational” -t-shirts, plus the much beloved sheep, kangaroo, wombat on ski’s, zebra and majenta carseat covers, to original drawings and heaps of other making of memorbilia. We are still in negotiations on the final resting place of the movie car (it still runs perfectly)- so if there are any 1961 EK Holden buffs out there, Sushi Bar designers, movie collectors, or rock n’ roll Japanese entrpreneurs looking for a little piece of Australian that never ceases to draw attention history- now is your chance to make us an offer we can’t refuse!!

Rachael Lucas features in first LUMINA Journal

As recipient of the Myer Fellowship 2008 (Australian Film Televsion and Radio School), Rachael Lucas recently finished an extensive written report entitled The Ego’s Journey Model: A critical pathway in the conceptual development of new media and virtual worlds. In the report Lucas argues that online interactivity is about interacting with the users ego. Where as old film media follows the course of the hero’s journey, (constructed plots points of drama, suspense and outcome edited into a polished format), new media is guided more by the users ego, it is an unfolding, livetime improvised `experience’ that can’t really be edited or constructed. A summary of the The Ego’s Journey Model, (as distilled by film journalist Rachael Turk) can be found in the first edition of the new bi-annual AFTRS published screen journal. Issue 1 of LUMINA: Journal of Screen Arts and Business features also chapters by Baz Luhrmann, Warick Thornton, David Stratton and Jan Chapman and can now be ordered from quality Australian bookstores (ISBN 978-0-9806550-0-1).

Also, in celebration of `10 years’ of Burlesque Productions (2000-2010), a new youtube channel has been set up where you can now check out some of Rachael’s other film and music video work www.youtube.com/videoburlesque
